The people have spoken, and the brackets are ready for the Mix March Madness 2015 Webcomics Tournament!
Thanks to the thousands of people who voted in the seeding process, as well as all of you who added your favorite webcomics to the list. We’re adding all of the webcomics you suggested to our directory.
But now, the challenges start! Let’s go!
First, some housekeeping details: There have been a few last minute disqualifications and a few retirements. As such, the numbers look a bit different than the voting rounds might suggest.
Second, we’ve had $60 in bought votes, or an additional 300 votes. Again, all money goes to the Hero Initiative.
Finally, here are the brackets. As usual, we’re dividing the 128 candidates into four divisions. This year’s divisions are Hasen, Henderson, Maeder, and Summer.
Again, we’re letting you support your favorite strips by paying for additional votes, with your money going to charity. Simply click on the Donate button below, and during checkout, click on “Which comic are you donating for?” and tell us who you’re voting for. The price is 20¢ a vote, with a minimum of five votes purchased at a time, split any way you want. All proceeds from paid votes will go to the Hero Initiative, an organization that helps comic book creators in need. At the close of the round, we’ll add the paid votes to the totals and announce the winners who move on to the brackets. (And yes, your donations to Hero are tax deductible.)
Voting ends at midnight Eastern Time on Friday night! Good luck to everyone!

Am I the only one who gets: “You do not have priveleges to access this area. ” on this page when they log into Bracketmaker?
Yeah, same here.
It is erratic, when happened reload the page fixed it to me.
So, is it mandatory to register with Bracket Maker this year?
Fixed, now the brackets are visible.
Heads up: “Vanguard” is misspelled as “Vangaurd”
There’s something I don’t get.
According to the published results the break line to get into the tournament was 17 votes.
There were 123 comics with 18 or more votes (“Vanguard” was two times and “Non-Adventures of Wonderella” was not included, maybe a retirement) so 5 more were needed. There are 10 comics with 17 votes:
Think Before You Think
Wasted Talent
Diesel Sweeties
NPC Comic
O Human Star
Basic Instructions
Nerf This
Multiplex
Heavenly Nostrils
Dinosaur Comics
“Think Before You Think” was selected.
So far so good, but now the weird thing: the other 4 selected to complete the list are:
Badnix with 1 (one) votes
Bubble Fox with 1 (one) votes
PicPak Dog with 11 (eleven) votes
Vibe with 4 (four) votes
How could this be?
People buying votes for charity.
Thanks. So the final results do not include the charity votes, I guess.
Right. We just didn’t have a chance to post the charity votes separately yet, as we were hoping we could simply add them to the poll results.
I am having trouble selecting anything from the list. I click on the box beside the comic’s name and it won’t select the box… so I can’t vote!
Fine, now the brackets are visible.
The voting list is shown the right way in my Win laptop but in my Android smartphone the checkboxes don’t work.
I haven’t voted yet.
Try it now. Fixing the brackets knocked out the polls for a while.
Just wondering where round two is
Haha wow! Fey Winds vs Twokinds in the first round? The fur vote will be totally split! Wouldn’t surprise me if whoever won it made it all the way through division, though! (I read both and love both, so ‘fur’ isn’t a slur, I swear. I’m struggling with which to vote for!)
When is the scheduled end of round one voting? That could be a useful bit of information for each round, especially for those donating for their support.
It is stated at the end of the page, below the “Donate” button:
“Voting ends at midnight Eastern Time on Friday night! Good luck to everyone!”
Yes, and there are approximately 52 Fridays each year – which one is the deadline?
Pay for votes is disgusting.
Well. You could start a different tournament without a vehicle to raise funds for a charity. Nothing wrong with that, is there?
“we’re letting you support … by paying for additional votes”
ComicMix choose an unfortunate phrasing in my opinion. I rather see them as an incentive to donate reward that ComicMix gives you, like the extra content for Patreon supporters many webcomics do.
It could be more transparent though.
I’m pretty sure SSSS would still be winning without paid votes anyway >_>
Given how enthusiastic Minnions are, you are probably correct. ;-)
No OOTS or Oatmeal? ‘Tis a sad world
When will round 2 start?
I was wondering the same thing…
Where is round two?
Um… Round 2 plz…
Round 2???
Bueller?
Ive had sixteen monkeys on tablets ready to vote for 4 days now. The zoo needs them back. Come on already!
What’s with all the finished and hiatus’d comics? Dominic Deegan ended ages ago (and appallingly, the new webcomic by DD’s author is not even in the list). Nimona and Shortpacked also ended and those are just the ones I know. So many others have posted one-two months worth of content in the whole previous year or much less. The author of Goblins has repeatedly stated he doesn’t want to be part of the contest, AND his comic was in extended hiatus. It is annoying because there are so many emergent (and not so) comics that deserved to be shined a light upon.
It is a bit disheartening that year after year this kind of things keep happening. You guys need somebody who’s actually into webcomics and can spot outrageous anomalies like those and do a bit of research for the ones they don’t know. I’d gladly do it for free if you opened that possibility but this cannot keep going on like this.
Correction: After a second look, Star Power (by DD’s author) is actually there. The rest of my argument remains.
